Inflated Star and Wooden Star – Frank Stella
Today we talk about a large-scale sculpture by Frank Stella Hon RA, one of the most important living American artists, which was on display in the courtyard Annenberg, exposed in the UK for the first time.
Inflated Wooden Star and Star was fabricated aluminum and teak wood, but was designed digitally, the image is shaped and refined by Stella brink of minimalism before it goes into production. The contrasting materials used in sculpture, the natural wood against metal highly finished, different treatments of space in the star drawn line and curves round the star solid, create a tension and a sense of the works should be dismissed and be attracted to each other to a fixed distance from an invisible force field.
Concern early Stella by creating illusions of space in two dimensions has developed and evolved from ‘based paints sculptural wall’, to large free standing works that continue to use its own language of painting and space exploration.
7 meters high sculpture, titled Inflated Wooden Star and Star is made of aluminum and teak wood. The contrasting materials creates a sense of tension, as if work items are simultaneously repelled and attracted to each other, trapped in an invisible force field.
Store in its memory this is something important, because we talk about sculptures objectively beautiful and attractive. A real seduction for looking.
