Their names are Marco Veronesi, Renzo Nucara, Alex Angi, Carlo Rizzetti, Kicco and William Sweetlove. The derivation of the term “Cracking Art” comes from the verb to crack = pop. Cracking is the gap of contemporary man, torn between original naturalness and a future increasingly artificiale.Cracking is the process that is used to convert petroleum into virgin naphtha, the base for thousands of synthetic products, such as plastics.
For artists belonging to this movement, “Cracking is the process that turns natural artificial, the organic Synthetic. A process dramatic, if not controlled, a split that puts us all in the face of new realities. ‘Quest’ last opposition in particular is reflected in the choice of materials (recycled plastic and reclaimed) and then in social and environmental movement.
The plastic, resulting from the Catalytic Cracking (hence the name) that turns the oil into plastic, has in it the roots of a story that has lasted for millennia, the man and his world. A history full of changes and events, a huge and deep cultural piece where human nature, artificial environment come together in a conceptual formula that has challenged the current rules of contemporary art, choosing a mode of expression that combines the logic of group to those of the individual investigation, which is expressed by performing actions involving, where colorful animals and decidedly out of scale invade the most different from those for art to those of everyday life, from supermarkets to highways.
The size of the group does not limit individual expression of these artists who also work as individual interpreting, each according to their urgency, the problems and tensions of our time, conferring, plasticosità to everything involved. Recycling plastic means evading destruction toxic and environmentally devastating, make works of art it means communicating through an innovative aesthetic language and expressing a particular sensitivity towards nature.
